Life Choices Programme

This programme offers a comprehensive framework for delivering an effective experience of infant simulators to young people, whilst exploring Life Skills, PSHE, Citizenship, Sex Education and Child Development.

Topics covered will include:

Media influence

Peer pressure

Relationships

Contraception

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI’s)

Teenage pregnancy

The effects of drugs and alcohol in pregnancy

Child care and the affects of child abuse

The practical experience of caring for an infant

The financial and emotional consequences of having a baby

The program is designed to deploy the RealCare Baby which is used to provide realistic and thought provoking insight into the demands of parenthood, and equip young people to make their own informed decisions about their choices in life.

This course could be good for a young person who needs to better understand the realities of having a baby.

Contact Diana Weeks, diana.weeks@hounslow.gov.uk to find out if any Life Choices Courses are being run and to register your interest for being trained to run this course within your own service.

Please be aware that if your young person is desperate to have a baby for whatever reason it may be very difficult to deter them from it.

Young People who are actively trying for a baby need to know about pre natal care. You can signpost them to all KISS Sexual Health Services that display the Pregnancy Testing ‘coin’ as well as signposting them to their local GP.
